NotesA birth registration was found for Margaret Scott Pearson: Date: October 12, 1879, 11:30 pm; Place: 66 Kelvinhaugh Road, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland; Parents: David Pearson, warehouse porter (shown as deceased on 18th October, 1879), and Mary Scott, married January 28, 1876, Kelvin District, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland.

A death registration was found for David Pearson, warehouse porter, married to Mary Scott: Date: october 18, 1879, 2:30 pm; Place: 66 Kelvinbaugh Road, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland; Parents: Andrew Pearson, seaman (merchant services) and Margaret Cameron; Cause: valvular disease of heart, 9 months.

Within time, Mary Scott remarried to a David Thomson who became the girls' stepfather. The family moved to Hopehill Road, but a short time later, death claimed Mary Scott Pearson Thomson, leaving the girls without their birth parents.

A death registration was found for Mary Mackenzie Thomson, married first to David Pearson, grocer; second to David Thomason, booksellers assistant: Date: May 6, 1887, 1:30 am; Place: 22 Hopehill Road, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland; Parents: Adam Scott, grocer; and Mary McKenzie; Cause: phthisis pulmonalis, duration 1 year, 6 months.

Thomson remarried and it was stated in an 1892 letter tat he no longer could keep Maggie. Maggie was sent to the Quarriers' orphanage at Bridge-of- Weir.

In 1894, Maggie Pearson, 14, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 114 Quarrier children en route to Brockville, Ontario, Canada.

On June 4, 1902, at Glengarry, Ontario, Canada, a marriage was registered between Margaret Scott Pearson, 21, born in Scotland to David Pearson and Mary E. Scott; and Mac D. McMartin [Malcolm Duncan McMartin], 34, farmer, born in Martintown, Ontario, Canada, to Henry S. McMartin and Bettey McGregor.

Malcolm Duncan and Margaret Scott Pearson McMartin had one child: Margaret Lillian McMartin, born on March 17, 1905, at Parry Sound, Ontario, Canada, and died in 1975.

According to family histories, Margaret Scott Pearson McMartin died on June 23, 1906. Malcolm Duncan McMartin remarried Mary Lillian McDonald. Malcolm Duncan McMartin died November 21, 1935.
