James was first placed with Austin W Walters, Ridgetown, Howard Talbot Road, Kent, Ontario, Canada.
A juvenile inspector reported [T-15425]:
PENFOLD James T., 12 . . . 1921 Barnardo's, 1922-26 with Austin Walters, Ridgetown. Completed. "Progress and character good. No complaints."
On December 21, 1929, James Penfold, 21, farmer, returned to the United Kingdom on the ship Athenia. His destination address was shown to be Pury, Northamptonshire, England. He intended to return to Canada.
