Notesa birth of a Stephen James Sanford was registered in Apr Qtr of 1895 in Hollingbourne, Kent

In 1911, his mother Georgina Phyllis Sanford, 42, widow, was found residing at 12 (Back) Wood St, Old Brompton, Chatham, Gillingham with one of her children William Edward Frederick aged 12. She declared that she had given birth to three children but only two were still living. She was a cook at the Royal Engineers Barracks.

On September 30th 1916, Stephen James Sanford, born May 18 1895, Chatham, Kent, England, enlisted in the Canadian Army, he
gave his next of kin as Mother-Mrs Georgina Sanford, 5? Wood St, Chatham, Kent. He declared that he was a Farmer residing in Bolton, Ontario
