He declared that he was residing in Orono, Ontario, Canada; that his next of kin was his father, Thomas Charman, who resided at 74 Spencer Road, Horsham, Sussex, England; that he was born on February 25, 1895; that he was a farmer; and that he was not married. He was described as 5 foot 5 inches in height; clear complexion; blue eyes; black hair. He was a member of the Methodist faith. He had a distinguishing "mark underneath left side of chin."
On February 9, 1916, at Port Hope, Durham, Ontario, Canada, a marriage was registered between George Frewin Charman, 21, soldier, born in Horsham, England, son of Thomas and Agnes Charman; and another home child, Alice [Maria] Wilson, 17, born in Liverpool, England, daughter of John Henry Wilson and Mary Williams.
