In 1901, Arthur G. Hann, 10 years of age, was residing at 10 Leyton Road, Wimbledon, Surrey, England. Other family members included: Matilda R. Hann, 8 (sent to Canada with Barnardos in 1908); Florence Hann, 3; Harriet B. Hann, 7; Harry Hann, 1; Henry F. Hann, 11; Henry L. Hann, 44, bricklayer's labourer; Louisa F. Hann, 6; Rebecca A. Hann, 41; Richard L. Hann, 9 months; and Rose E. Hann, 15.

A death registration was found for Rebecca Ann Hann: Estimated Birth Year: abt 1860; Year of Registration: 1902; Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar; Age at Death: 42; District: Kingston; County: Middlesex, Surrey; Volume: 2a; Page: 260.

In 1905, Arthur Hann, 15, arrived in Quebec, Canada, along with a group of 22 children from the Waifs and Strays Society en route to Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada. (EDITORS NOTE: Comments were placed with the manifest: Railway Order #6551.)

In 1911, Arthur Hann, 20, is shown as a domestic / laborer for Henery R. Hubbeard and family in Cavan, Durham, Ontario, Canada. His date of birth is shown as November 1890 and his immigration year as 1905.

On July 8, 1914, at Peterborough, Ontario, Canada, a marriage was registered between Arthur George Hann, 23, labourer, born in Surrey, England, son of Harry Lane Hann and Rebecka Lee; and Sarah Helen Lawless, 22, born in Manchester, England, daughter of Austing Lawless and Sarah Ann Skelland. Louisa Hann, of Peterborough, Ontario, was a witness.

On September 24, 1914, at Valcartier, Qu?bec, Canada, Arthur G. Hann enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces (Service Number: 42145; Force: Army; Unit: Canadian Field Artillery; Division: 1st Brigade). He declared that he was born in Surrey, England; that his next of kind was Mrs. Sarah Hann, who resided at 344 Water Street, Peterboro[ugh], Ontario, Canada; that he was a labourer; and that he was married. He was described as 5 foot 4-1/2 inches in height; dark complexion; blue eyes; dark hair. He was a member of the Church of England.

Gunner Arthur George Hann died on April 3, 1917, in France. He was buried at STE CATHERINE BRITISH CEMETERY, Pas de Calais, France (Grave Reference: M. 5).
