Notes Edward McDonald was born August 14, 1899 at 150 Links Street, Kirkcaldy, Scotland. The youngest of 4 children, his siblings were Richard, Kate and Peter. They were the children of Edward McDonald (b. May 5, 1862, Dundee) and Maria Davidson (b. Jan. 14, 1862, Dundee) married March 6, 1887, Dundee, Scotland.
In 1901, Edward McDonald, 1 year of age, was shown residing at 25 Dallfield Wk, Dundee, Forfarshire, Scotland. Other family members included: Dick McDonald, 4; Edward McDonald, 38, dealer in fruit; Kate McDonald, 12; Maria McDonald, 38; and Peter McDonald, 10. They were orphaned in the early 1900's. Kate remained in the United Kingdom and possibly married and had her own family. Peter died in World War I in France.
In 1911, Edward McDonald, 11 (along with his brother, Richard M. McDonald, 14) arrived at Quebec, Canada, with a party of 224 Barnardo boys en route to Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Edward and Richard settled in Toronto where they may have lived briefly with a Minister of one of the Church groups bringing the children over.
Edward married Lucy D'Argent and raised 4 children; Doug, Jeanne, Peter and Kathy.
Edward McDonald died in 1964 in Ontario, Canada.
