NotesA birth registration was found for Ethel Rows Anderson: Year of Registration: 1885; Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar; District: Middlesbrough (1875-1968); County: Yorkshire - North Riding; Volume: 9d; Page: 599. Parents: Henry George Jolly Smith Rows and Eliza Rachel (Olive) Anderson, a domestic servant.

In 1890, Ethel Anderson, 5, designated as an orphan and originally from the Middlesbrough Union Workhouse, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 52 Maria Rye children accompanied by Mrs. Soffe, matron, and en route to Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada. [EDITORS NOTE: Ethel was not an orphan. Eliza Anderson was still alive when Ethel was sent to Canada. She lived until 1951.]

On March 3, 1908, at Erindale, Peel, Ontario, Canada, a marriage was registered between Ethel Rose Anderson, 23, maid, born in England, to (foster parents) Mr. and Mrs. John Wilson; and Charles R. Booth, 28, coachman, born in England to Thomas Booth and Mary Ann Jackson.

It appears that Charles' true surname was Bainbridge.

Charles Thomas "Richard" and Ethel Rows Anderson Bainbridge had 6 children: Albert Wellington James Bainbridge; Edith May Bainbridge; Fred C. Bainbridge; Percival Jackson Bainbridge; Margaret R. Bainbridge; Ernest OR Gordon Harvey Bainbridge.

On March 4, 1924, Ethel Bainbridge, 38, crossed into the United States through the port of Niagra Falls, New York, with her children: Edith M. Bainbridge; Charles F. Bainbridge; Percy J. Bainbridge; Margaret Bainbridge; and Gordon Bainbridge. She declared that she resided at Pt. Credit, Ontario, Canada; that her contact in Canada was her friend, Mrs. James Wilson, of Pt. Credit, Ontario, Canada; that her final destination was Buffalo, New York; that her husband paid her fare; that she intended to reside permanently in the United States with her husband, Charles on East Amherst Street, Buffalo, New York. She was described as 5 foot 4 inches and did not know where she was born.

Ethel Rows Anderson Bainbridge died in 1963 in Williamsville, New York, USA. Charles Thomas Bainbridge died 1974 in Williamsville, New York, USA.
