Bernard spoke warmly of what appears to be the school he attended prior to arriving in Canada. In letters, he says "kindly remember me to Mr. Gask (sp?) and all the staff", "I am so sorry to hear that Mr. Lupton has gone to Manor Park and left St. Antony's" and " I am pleased the Bazaar was a successful one".

In 1905, Bernard C. Henson, 13, arrived at Quebec, Canada, along with a group of 55 children from the Catholic Emigration Association (Rev. George V. Hudson, Coleshill, Birmingham, England) en route to St.George's Home, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada accompanied by Mr. J.L. Harrison and Mr. Patrick Kavanagh.

According to his granddaughter, J. Noel:

"Bernard was not an orphan and wanted to come to Canada.

[H]e was a "very good boy" and always comments about him following his religion. Then in the Aug 08 report "This lad seems of a rather discontented nature. I am convinced that he is in an excellent home. Employer is a fine young fellow, and speaks very highly of Bernard. His father is old and may have (as old men will) interfered with boy)." The Mother Evangelist's comments were "Will send a line to this boy re respect for the aged."

Bernard joined the Army, went to England in WW1 and married [Emma Louisa Sandford] who was from London. They came back to Canada, had eight children and [lived] a hard, poverty stricken life."
