He was a farmer by trade in Hastings, Ontario. 5'4" in height with hazel eyes and dark brown hair. His religion was listed as Methodist.

Commonwealth War Graves Registers states he was Killed in Action. His Next of Kin was Mrs. Mary Sarson of Rhuddlan, North Wales. A photograph of his grave was send 25 Apr 1921 and cemetery registation was sent out 22 Nov 1927. He was buried in La Targette British Cemetery, Neuville-Saint-Vaast, Nord Pas de Calais, France.
