NotesA birth registration was found for Elizabeth May Kite: Date: Apr-May-Jun 1908; District: West Derby; County: Lancashire; Volume: 8b; Page: 258. Parents: William Francis Kite and Emma Walton, married June 2, 1901, at St John the Evangelist, Charlotte Street, Camden, Middlesex, England.

William Kite, Sr., was a sergeant in the Royal West Kent Regiment. Family stories indicate that the he had been a prisoner of war in Germany about 1916. He returned home to England in 1919, but shortly after could not be found, so his seven children were sent to child welfare. [William died in 1948 at the Star Garter military hospital.]

In 1921, Eliza M Kite, 13, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 134 Barnardo children en route to Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It was declared that her birthplace was Edmonton [Middlesex]; that her present occupation was as a school girl; that her intended occupation was as a school girl; that she was destined to Mr. Hobday, Hazel Brae, Peterboro, Ontario, Canada; and that her nearest relative in England was her father, Mr. F. Kite, who resided at 88 William Street, Regents Park, NW, London, England.

Barnardos Ups and Downs, Vol. XXXIV. Toronto, July, 1932. No.2 reported:
