NotesI discovered Harold stood next in line on enlistment day for WWI to my Great Uncle Harry Parker, who is also a BHC. It was also discovered that they were both in the same workhouse of Sheffield England before being sent over to Canada. Harold came 2 years before Harry but both ended up right here in Chatham Kent, Ontario.

Harold was placed with the Johnston family of Kent Bridge area at R.R. 2 Northwood Road in 1908. When he enlisted in 1915, he was still living on the farm and listed Mr. Johnston as next of kin. Ultimately it would be him that would have received his notice of death, as Harold was killed in 1918 and is buried in France. Lest We Forget.

Harold was listed as single, therefore, he has no (known) descendants to bring him life. His files can not be obtained obviously but according to records for the children's admittance in the Union Workhouse - he was an orphan and an only child. Maybe he has distant family members in England that know nothing about him, or can find nothing more of him while he was here.

I was very fortunately to uncover a wonderful piece of history that holds a photograph of Harold. It was bitter sweet to see his photo and then read of his death. R.I.P.
