Notes This obit came from the Lois Stanford British Home Child Collection.................................................................................................Edward Davis,90.....Edward William Davis,90,died September 29 at the Wellington House Nursing Home in Prescott. He was born in Sunbury,England on July 21,1910,to Beatrice Tew and was raised and educated in England. Mr.Davis came to the Jasper area from England in 1926 and worked on farms owned by residents including William Johnston,Bill Seymour and Joshua Morrison. He also worked at the Bellamy's Lake Cheese Factory. When the Second World War broke out,Mr.Davis returned to England and enlisted in the Royal Airforce as a gun armer mechanic.He served from 1940 to 1946 in England,Burma and India. After the war he returned to Canada and settled in the Frankville area,moving to Athens in 1952. He worked for different farms and the village of Athens and was a watch repairman.He installed many septic systems and always kept detailed records of each one's location. Mr.Davis was member of the Anglican Church.He also belonged to the Royal Air Force Association of Kingston on the Thames,England.He loved to build and operate remote-controlled model airplanes.Mr.Davis is survived by his niece,Denise Goodman and her husband Chris of Chessington,England.The funeral was held at the Judson Funeral Home,Athens on October 2 with Reverend Mike Bury of Christ Church presiding. Pallbearers,included Donald Layng,Tom Casey,Orval Anderson,Hugh Brown,Kent Mainse and Dave Kavanaugh. Memorial donations are to go to the charity of the donor's choice.
