In 1905, Ethel Ellis, 14, arrived at Quebec, Canada, along with a group of 13 children from the Waifs and Strays Society, Savoy St., London to Our Western Home at Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario. Ethel Ellis was sent to Saint John, New Brunswick. (Her brothers, James Ellis, 8, Albert Ellis, 11, and Frank Ellis, 10, arrived the same year with Middlemore and were sent to New Brunswick.)
