In 1887, Charles Haynes, 13, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 18 young persons sent by Croydon Union, Surrey, England, accompanied by Rev. R. F. Winter and en route to various places.
"Copy of Reports of Inspection of Pauper Children sent out to Canada made by Immigration Officers of the Dominion Government and received from the Colonial Office on the 12th December 1888.
Report of Mr. W. C. B.Graham, Government Immigration Agent at Winnipeg.
Chas. Haynes, aged 15. From Croydon Union. Placed with Mrs. J. McKenzie, Stonewall.?Ran away from his situation, conduct bad, gives decided indications of mental weakness; cannot find any trace of him at present."
[POSSIBLE MATCH] Winnipeg Free Press, August 29, 1961, reported:
"CHARLES HAYNES
On August 28, 1961, at St. Michaels Nursing Home. Charles Haynes, of 72 Hargrave St., aged 91 years. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday in Korrs Funeral chapel Limited, 120 Adelaide St. Interment in Brookside Cemetery."
