"Ada Perch, who is living with elderly people and is treated as a child of the house, writes us a note of warm appreciation of Ups and Downs:

Dear Miss Loveday, Will you please send me the Ups and Downs, for I like to read it very much. I have nothing to read now. I am very lonesome without it, and Grandpa would like to see it too. I must tell you the Mrs. Owen was here. I was glad to see her. She heard me read when she was here. I am not going to school, but I have got school books. I am yours truly, Ada Pearch."

On December 1, 1903, Ada Annie Peurch, 14 years of age, died. She was residing at the Barnardo Home, Peterborough, Ontario, Canada, and was working as a servant. Her cause of death was heart disease from rheumatica, 1 year. Her faith was Episcopalian. Ada is buried at Little Lake Cemetery, Peterborough, Ontario, Canada, along with 46 other Barnardo children who were a part of Hazlebrae House.
