NotesIn 1901, Fredk Ganney, 5 years of age, was shown residing at 7 St. Johns Road, Tottenham, Middlesex, England. Other family members included his mother, Clara E. Ganney, 23, widow, charwoman; and his brother, Edgar Ganney, 2.

In 1910, Frederick Ganney, 14 (along with his brother Edward Ganney, 13) arrived in Quebec, Canada, with a group of 109 children accompanied by Mr. Merry en route to Stratford, Ontario, Canada.

In 1911, Fred Ganney, 15, was shown as a domestic / farmer with Hugh Hill and family in Colborne, Huron, Ontario, Canada. His date of birth is shown as March 1896 and his immigration year as 1910.

On January 29, 1915, Frederick Ganney enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces (Service Number: 491223; Force: Army; Unit: Canadian Infantry (Eastern Ontario Regiment); Division: 2nd Battalion). He declared that he was born in Middlesex, England; that his next of kin was Mr. Robert Gibbs who resided at Londlesborough, Ontario, Canada; that his date of birth was March 19, 1896; that he was a labourer; and that he was not married. Private Frederick Ganney died November 6, 1917 in Ypres, Belgium. He is remembered as one of the 55,000 men who were lost without trace during the defence of the Ypres Salient in the First World War (Panel 10 - 26 - 28).
