Corporal George Slater's Find A Grave biography states that he was orphaned when his mother passed away and his father left his 7 children. Four children stayed in England and were brought up by relatives, but three were sent to Canada, two in 1901 and George following in 1903.
He was buried in Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery and Memorial, Romagne sous Montfaucon, Meuse, Lorraine, France. Plot H, Row 17, Grave 28.
