with Samuel Shepherd, P.O Blackstock, Lot 7. Con.7, Cartwright Twp, Durham, Ontario

May 25 1900

Age 12, good home, employed in assisting with housework and light farm chores, a strong healthy lad, attends Church of England, can read and write, does not attend school at present. Character generally good but rather obstinate. Terms-Board and Clothes at present, $100 at the end of five years. Mrs Shepherd states that the boy is satisfactory. They are fond of him and for this reason overlook his faults. The lad is perfectly satisfied with his home and says that he is contented and happy. He likes his work and has nothing to complain of.
