Adam Ferris was drafted into the Canadian Army under the Military Service Act 1917 on December 7th 1917, he stated he was born in Wigan on August 11 1883, that his next of kin originally was Mother-Mrs Eliz Ferris, Nottingham, this was later changed to a Friend-R J Madden, Whetwood?,

On June 22 1919, Adam Ferris arrived back in Canada on SS Scotian in a Military party, he stated he was returning to Calgary and his official next of kin was his Mother.
