George's death left Selina with seven children to raise. The boys were placed in Barnardo Homes and immigrated to Canada. He and Ernie stayed at Leopold House in the east end of England like their brother Frank. Frank didn`t leave for Canada until 1909. They had stayed at Great Easton and Sheppard House prior to leaving England.
In 1903, Albert E Phripp, 11 (along with brother Ernest John Phripp, 10), arrived at Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, in a group of 57 Barnardo children en route to Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Albert was sent to Holland Landing. All the boys were said to be honest and truthful and eager to please. When grown, Albert moved west to Saskatchewan and worked around Francis and Tyvan. In winter he went north to work in logging camps. In 1930, he and his wife Maggie spent a year in Ontario. They stayed around Kettleby and Toronto. They moved back to the west and bought a farm at Winnipegosis, Manitoba. Albert and Maggie raised 5 children. He died on July 13, 1970 and was buried in the Winnipegosis Cemetery.
