NotesA birth registration was found for Walter Harry Allen: Year of Registration: 1883; Quarter of Registration: Apr-May-Jun; District: Kidderminster; County: Hereford and Worcester, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Worcestershire; Volume: 6c; Page: 248.

In 1895, Walter Allen, 13, arrived at Halifax, Nova Scotia, in a group of 71 Middlemore children, accompanied by Mr. Middlemore, to be dispersed in the Lower Provinces.

Walter was sent to Canada by Kidderminster Union. An inspection was undertaken on March 13 1896:

"Aged 14, comfortable home, employed in light work around house, in good health, attends church & school, good character, to be kept until 21 years, (address given as Albert D Fulton, Carriage Builder, PO Lower Stewiacke.)

On August 30, 1904, at West Chester Township, Cumberland, Nova Scotia, Canada, a marriage was registered between Walter H. Allen, 22, carriage builder, born in England to William and Mary Allen; and Beatrice Lucy Purdy, 22, born in West Chester Township, Nova Scotia, Canada, to Sanford and Matilda Purdy.

The couple had at least 3 children: Irene Beatrice ALLEN, born October, 1906; died September 4, 1907; Dorothy Jean ALLEN, born October, 1908; and Arthur Sanford ALLEN, born 1911.

On July 3, 1915, Walter Harry Allen returned to Canada from England on the ship Metagama.

On November 29, 1915, at Truro, Nova Scotia, Canada, Lieut-Col. William Harry Allen, of the 106th "O/S" Battlion declared that he was born in Kidderminster, England; that the date of his birth was April 1, 1882; that his next of kin was his wife, Beatrice Allen, who resided at Bible Hill, Truro, Nova Scotia, Canada; that he was a Presbyterian by faith; that he belonged to the 76th Col. and Hants Rifles unit of the Active Militia; that he had previously served for 1 year in the R.C.R. Halifax, 5 months in the C.M.R. South Africa, and 15 months in the 17th Battalion, C.E.F.; and that he was a carriage builder by profession.
