In 1911, Samuel Whitehouse, 11, was shown as an adopted son to Martin and Elizabeth Frame of Northampton Parish, Grafton, Carleton, New Brunswick, Canada. His date of birth is shown as January 1900 and his immigration year as 1911.

On March 1, 1916, Samuel Whitehouse, 18 (he was actually 16), enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces. He declared that: he resided in Woodstock, New Brunswick; he was born in London, England; his next of kin was his aunt Miss Clara Curtis, who resided at Boyd, M10, London, England (originally his father's name, Joseph Whitehouse, who resided in Donaldson, England, was typed in but it was crossed out); his date of birth was February 2 1898; he was a farmer; and he was not married. He was described as 5 foot 5-1/2 inches in height; medium complexion; blue eyes; light brown hair. He was a member of the Presbyterian faith.

On May 3, 1923, Samuel Whitehouse, 23, laborer, entered the United States through the port of Houlton, Maine. He declared that he resided in Newburgh, New Brunswick, Canada; that his next of kin was his adopted father, Martin Frame of Newburgh, New Brunswick; he carried $27 on his person; he had previously visited Houlton, Maine for 3 months in May 1922; that he intended to visit for more than 6 months and he had no address. He was described as 5 foot 11 inches in height; dark complexion; brown hair; blue eyes. He was born in London, England and immigrated to Canada in 1908.

About 1924, Samuel Whitehouse, 24, married Pearl W. Wood, 15.

In 1930, Samuel Whitehouse, 30, foreman - silk, is shown residing at B Street(?), Road south of Track (?)Rocky Hill, Hartford, Connecticut. Other family members included: wife Pearl W. Whitehouse; and children: Joseph I. Whitehouse, 4; Jane D. Whitehouse, 2; and Claire I. Whitehouse, 2 months. Also residing in the home was his mother-in-law, Olive J. Wood 71.
