NotesIn 1914, Phyllis Day, 10 (along with brother, Albert Day, 11), arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 62 Louisa Birt children en route to Knowlton, Quebec, Canada.

On April 5, 1918, a letter was received from A. Drummond to G. Bogue Smart, Esq. of Ottawa. It stated in part:

"Placed in Ottawa yesterday, your Dept. being formally advised of the new address. Wages $8 per month. This girl has been here in the Home since August of last year."

In June, 1923, Phyllis Day, 19, domestic, crossed into the United States through the Port of St. Albans, Vermont. She declared that she resided in Athens, Ontario, Canada; that she had no contacts in Canada; that her final destination was Randolph, Vermont; that she carried $140 on her person; that she was going to join her brother, Albert Day. She was described as 5 foot 5 inches in height; light brown hair and blue eyes. She further declared that she was born in London, England.
