NotesA birth registration was found for Louisa Emily Castley: Year of Registration: 1872; Quarter of Registration: Apr-May-Jun; District: Ware; County: Hertfordshire; Volume: 3a; Page: 273. Parents: Edward Herbert Castley and Susannah Wright, married 1870 in Shoreditch, London, England.

In 1887, Louisa Castley, 14, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 18 girls from Miss Alexander's party from Sutton, Surrey, England, accompanied by Mrs. Rose Wallace, matron, and en route to Miss Alexander's home at 51 Northcote Ave., Toronto, Ontario, Canada. (The girls were from Charlotte A. Alexander's Girl's Training Home at The Red Cottage, Great Warley, Brentwood, England.)

On November 27, 1893, at Toronto, York, Ontario, Canada, a marriage was registered between Louisa Emily Gertrude Castley, 21, born in London, England, to Albert Edward and Susanna Castley; and, Frederick Albert Edward Smith, 26, stationer, born in London, England, to James Johnson and Caroline Rebecca Smith.

Frederick and Louisa Castley Smith had at least children: Gertrude Alberta Smith, born January 31, 1893; Vera Isobella Smith, born June 24, 1894; Mildred Smith, born January 24, 1896; Phyllis Marjorie Smith, born December 24, 1897 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada; and Frances Louise Smith, born October 11, 1902 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Louisa Emily Gertrude Smith died at the age of 49 on October 21, 1912, at her home, 239 Sherbourne Street, Toronto, York, Ontario, Canada, of cerebral hemorrhage and intestinal nephritis. The informant was her husband, Fred A. Smith.

Frederick Albert Edward Smith died at the age of 65 on February 14, 1933, at Toronto East General Hospital, of septicaemia (a bacterial infection of the blood, commonly known as blood poisoning) and pyelonephritis (an ascending urinary tract infection that has reached the pyelum (pelvis) of the kidney), 2 days after surgery for a prostatic obstruction (enlarged prostate gland).

Frederick and Louisa Smith are buried at St. Johns Cemetery, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
