NotesIn 1891, Jeremiah Field, 30, wife Mary, 26, and children Michael, 7, Margaret, 3, Mary, 1, Ellen, 5, and James, 9, in Greenwich, London

On August 15 1893, Michael, and sister Margaet admitted to Greenwich Workhouse, the children had been deserted by their father Jeremiah, their mother was noted as being deceased, their nearest relative was Mrs Hennessy, 39 Blackwall Lane, they were marked as 'to be sent to Catholic Schools'

On August 19 1893, Ellen, and Mary, were placed in Boston Spa by Greenwich Union, they were marked as deserted, the union records seem to indicate the children were possibly released on 16 June 1904 for a holiday, there is a also a separate note saying c/o sister in Liverpool (In 1901, the girls were living in St John's Institute, Wetherby, Yorkshire

their sister Margaret, 13, was residing in a convent and orphanage in Croydon, Surrey

Age 15, good home, good health, employed at farm work, attends Roman Catholic Church, does not attend school, was in 7th standard when he left England. Character good. Terms-wages $4 per month. Field has been here since June last. His employer is a well to do farmer, located less than a mile from the town. Field has many advantages here, and ought to do well. His employer does not expect too much work and is anxious to teach him farming. Field is well satisfied
