In 1884, Colin Lockhart, 10, arrived at Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, along with a group of 118 children en route to Brockville, Ontario.
In 1884, Colin Lockhart was placed in the James and Charlotte (Moulton) Shaw household (joining James Shaw's 11 children). Colin was a part of the Shaw family for the next 14 years until, in the company of James? natural sons Will and Robert, he left Ontario for Manitoba in 1898. Colin took up a land claim in Manitoba and James sent him sufficient funds to purchase a team of horses with which to establish his farm.

Nothing further is known about Colin Lockhart, but circumstantial evidence suggests he died unmarried, somewhere in the Canadian or American west.
