In 1881, Colin Lockhart, 8 years of age, was residing at 14 Walker Street, Govan, Lancashire, England. Other family members included: Christina Lockhart, 11; Isabella Lockhart, 42; Isabella Lockhart, 14; Robert Lockhart, 9; and Willam Lockhart, 17. (Source: 1881 Census of Scotland; Parish: Partick; ED: 4; Line: 20; Year: 1881.)

In 1884, Colin Lockhart, 10, arrived at Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, along with a group of 118 children en route to Brockville, Ontario.

In 1884, Colin Lockhart was placed in the James and Charlotte (Moulton) Shaw household (joining James Shaw's 11 children). Colin was a part of the Shaw family for the next 14 years until, in the company of James? natural sons Will and Robert, he left Ontario for Manitoba in 1898. Colin took up a land claim in Manitoba and James sent him sufficient funds to purchase a team of horses with which to establish his farm.

In 1901, Colin Lockhart, 25, farmer, was shown as head of household residing alone in Fleming, Assiniboia (East/Est), The Territories, Canada. His date of birth is shown as October 15, 1875 and his immigration year as 1884.

In 1906, Colin Lockhart, 32, was shown as head of household residing alone in Saskatchewan, Canada. His immigration year is shown as 1884.

Nothing further is known about Colin Lockhart, but circumstantial evidence suggests he died unmarried, somewhere in the Canadian or American west.
