DISCOVER NO MOTIVE IN FARM LAD'S DEATH

Barnardo Boy Took Own Life--At Times Seemed Melancholy

Special to the Star

Orangeville, June 23.--William Sutton, 18-year-old Barnardo boy, who was found dead in the bush of his former employer yesterday will be buried in the little cemetery of Rosemount not far from the spot where his body was discovered.

With him he will carry the secret of his suicide, for until to-day provincial police have not been able to find any motive. Tall, strong and powerful of build he was a willing and earnest worker. Oswald Armstrong of Mono township, his employer, is a successful farme,r and was pleased with the way the youth was making his start in Canada. There is only one thing he ever noticed wrong with the boy, that he was subject to fits of melancholia. "He was morose," the farmer told Constable Harry Butler yesterday.

A week ago William disappeared and a search was instituted. The boy's body was found with a gun beside it. Coroner W. J. McLean decided an inquest was not necessary.

Barnardo officials told the Star to-day that the boy had been visited by inspectors of that organization from time to time, "and that apparently he was getting on all right." As to the motive which prompted the untimely death they declared they are mystified and have sent a man to investigate.

Possibly on June 12, 1930, William Sutton, 18, born in England, farm labourer, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound through his left chest--apparently through his heart. He had been missing about 10 days. Death had been instantaneous. He is buried in Alliston Union Cemetery.
