NotesA birth registration was found for William Patrick Harvey: Year of Registration: 1907; Quarter of Registration: Apr-May-Jun; District: Edmonton; County: Essex, Hertfordshire, Middlesex; Volume: 3a; Page: 650. Parents: Harry Harvey and Edith Ethel Saunders, married 1903 in Aston, Warwickshire, England.

While their mother was dying the three boys (William, Leslie, and Arthur) were placed in Lammas Lodge, Poor Law Union Home, in Warwick, Warwickshire, England.

Edith Ethel Saunders Harvey died of breast cancer at Warwick Infirmary. A death registration was found for Edith Harvey: Estimated Birth Year: abt 1878; Year of Registration: 1914; Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec; Age at Death: 36; District: Warwick (To 1932); County: Warwickshire; Volume: 6d; Page: 913.

Harry Harvey died in the trenches of France in 1917.

William, Leslie, and Arthur Harvey were placed in Father Hudson's Homes, Birmingham, Warwickshire, Engand. William spoke highly of the home, and gave them credit for his education.

In 1921, William Harvey, 14, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 66 Catholic children en route to St George's Home, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

Nuns helped him keep in touch with two brothers, but he had faint memories of other family members. He believed he may have had an older sister who 'went to Australia' but he was never sure.

Bill had to have most of his stomach removed in his 50's. From then on he had to eat several small meals each day, as his capacity was greatly reduced. Indigestion was a constant companion. The doctors, after reviewing his history, determined that it was probably traceable to the large amount of oatmeal the children in the Home were fed. (They had it several times a day, as a staple food, during the war) When the surgery was performed, he discovered from letters from his brother in England, that Arthur had had the exact same operation for the same problem.
