NotesOn her birth registration her mother's name is listed as Eliza, unwed servant.

In 1891, Isabella Cottier, 6, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 103 Quarrier children accompanied by Miss Simpson, lady, and en route to Brockville, Ontario, Canada.

Abandoned by her mother, Isabella was put into the Douglas Industrial Home on April 4th, 1891 where she only stayed a few weeks when she was sent to Quarriers. She was only there nine days before being shipped to Canada. She was adopted by the Redmond family of Athens, Ontario, who changed her name to Nellie Redmond.

According to her granddaughter, "Isabella was treated well, but she never seemed to be happy. I can't remember my grandmother ever smiling. She never told us she was a home child until she was over 90 years old. I guess she was ashamed."

Isabella married Arthur Berry of Sweet's Corners, Ontario in 1912. They had three sons and
10 grandchildren.

Isabella died in 1983 at a nursing home in Napanee, Ontario. She is buried with her husband in Lillies graveyard near Sweet's Corners Ontario.
