April 26 1899

with Alexandre Legault, farmer, P.O St Barbe, Huntingdon, Quebec

Age 14, good home, employed at farm work, health good, attends church, no schooling, character good. Terms-Board and Clothing. This child is satisfied, but will be returned to Mr Robert, on account of being too young for the work

September 26 1899

The boy John Ahearn, after leaving Alexandre Legault was placed with Richard Claproot, farmer, Bellerive, Beauharnois, good home, employed at farm work, health good, attends church but not school, character good. Terms-Board and Clothing. The lad states that he is fairly well placed with his place, and his employer also stated he is satisfied with the lad.

August 15 1900

with Richard Claprood, moulder and farmer, P.O Bellerive, Beauharnois, Quebec

Age 15, very plain but neat home, employed at farm chores, good health, attends Roman Catholic Church, does not attend school,
character fair, terms-Board and Clothing. Ahearn complains that the work is too hard for him. They scold him, he says, and whip him, and he is dissatisfied. Mr Claprood says that he is a very stubborn boy, as well as being careless, and he has to be told to do everything. He whips him sometimes as he would his own child. The work is not too too hard for him. All the work he has to do is to chop and carry the wood, and feed the horse. His own daughter does far more work than Ahearne. Although dissatisfied with him, he is willing to keep him and give him another trial

with Wilfred Bruneau, Valleyfield, Beauharnois, Quebec

November 12 1902

Age 17, attends Roman Catholic Church, terms-$1 per month and his keep for this year to be increased to $2 per month next year
This is the most satisfactory place he has had yet. Mr Bruneau is well recommended to me and is, I judge by the appearance of his premises, an industrious farmer. Ahearn is a short, hardy youth and well suited for the work. His employer was not at home when I called, but I am informed that they find Ahearn a lad of good character
