NotesA birth registration was found for Sidney Tilbury: Year of Registration: 1890; Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar; District: Lambeth; County: Greater London, London, Surrey; Volume: 1d; Page: 505. Parents: Amos Tilbury and Maud Matilda Tilling, married 1881, St. Saviour, London, England.

Sidney Tilbury, along with his siblings: George, Herbert and Maud, was admitted to Lambeth Union Schools on July 4, 1895. Their mother was dead, and their father, Amos, had deserted whereby a warrant was granted on October 17, 1895. Their great-aunt, Mrs Lucinda Clayton, resided at 1 Burnett St, Vauxhall. Ernest Tilbury, was c/o their uncle, C. Tilbury, 42 Teesdale St, Hackney on March 13, 1897. Lily was sent into service May 2, 1898, at Mrs Elkes 155 Knights Hill Road.

Maud was sent into service at Mrs. Beck's, 62 Leighan-Vale, Streatham, on September 14, 1899; George died at Norwood School on April 22, 1900; and Herbert was discharged to Barnardo's Homes on August 1, 1900.

Sidney was discharged to Barnardo's Homes June 12, 1901.

In 1901, Sidney Tilbury, 10, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a large group of Barnardo children, 239 to Toronto, Ontario; 68 to Winnipeg, Manitoba; 20 to Russell, Manitoba; and 3 to Peterborough, Ontario, Canada.

On September 25, 1922, at Brantford, Ontario, Canada, a marriage was registered between Sidney Tilbury, 24, laborer, born in London, England, to Fred Tilbury (did not know mother's name); and Lena Briggs, 22, domestic, born in Manchester, England, to Herbert Briggs and Elizbeth Gate.

Sidney and Lena Briggs Tilbury had one child: Herbert Tilbury, born 1923, Brantford, Ontario, Canada.

On August 19, 1924, at Brantford General Hospital, Brantford, Ontario, Canada, Sidney Tilbury, 28, hod carrier, born May 24 (did not know year) in England to unknown parents, died of cancer of the appendix and callum(?). The informant was his wife, Lena Tilbury, of 19 Waterloo. Sidney Tilbury was buried in Mount Hope Cemetery, Brantford, Ontario, Canada.

On November 14, 1924, Lena Tilbury and her son, Herbert Tilbury, arrived at Liverpool, England, on the ship Regina. Their destination address was 7 Boarshaw Lane, Middleton, and their intended permanent residence was England.
