NotesHe was wrongly convicted of a petty theft and probably sent to a Reform School in England c. 1918 He learnt farming skills, probably went to the Salvation Army's Hadleigh Farm, Essex.
> then at 18 left for Halifax, NS paid his own passage but was under a
> Salvation Army guarantee. His religion was Wesleyan Methodist.
> His father was a German national and other family members changed their names because of it and the War. Ernest fought in WW2 in the Canadian Army. My great Aunt remembers that he returned home to London to visit. Then returned to Canada where contact was lost with him
