NotesMy Grandfather's Mom died and his father remarried. When his Dad died his step mother could no longer care for him and his brother Harry. They were taken in by the church and the Archbishop of Canterbury (as far as we know) He came to Canada in 1905 as a Waif and Stray and was sent to the Gibbs home in Sherbrooke in the Eastern Townships.

He worked for a few years on a farm not far from Sherbrooke. I don't know the name of the farm but years ago the Canadian $1.00 or the $5.00 bill had the picture of a farm on the back. He told us that was the farm he worked on.

When WWI broke out he answered the call and spent a few years in Europe fighting for King and country. Upon returning to the Eastern Townships he opened up a service station in Magog that he and my Dad ran until the 1980's.

Grandpa died in 1987 and was laid to rest beside his beloved Dora. They rest in peace for all eternity in Magog.
