Commonwealth War Graves Registers and Circumstances of Casualty state that he had previously been reported Missing, and then presumed to have died in an attack north of Courcelette, Somme, Picardie, France. His body was not recovered for burial, his name is listed on the Vimy Memorial, Vimy, Nord Pas de Calais, France.
