NotesA birth registration was found for Fred Lock Lill: Date: Jul-Aug-Sep 1903; District: Grimsby; County: Lincolnshire; Volume: 7a; Page: 633. Parents: Samuel Lock (the proprietor of a roundabout or steam circus) and Mary Ann (Polly) Day Lill. Polly had been housekeeper to Samuel and Frances Barnard Haley LOCK in Grimsby, Lincolnshire. She had six children to Samuel: Doris Lock Lill 1897; Ernest Lock Lill 1899; Fred Lock Lill 1903; Jack Lock Lill 1905; Edward Lock Lill 1907 and Edith Lock Lill 1908.

In 1911, Frank Lock Lill, 7 (along with brother Edward Lock Lill, 9), arrived at Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, in a group of 30 Barnardo children en route to Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

In 1912 Polly married Henry Hector Dass and had three more children: Hector, Henry and Mary.
