Notes In 1895, William Abbot, 15, arrived at Halifax, Nova Scotia, in a group of 133 Barnardo boys accompanied by Mr. A. B. Owen in charge en route to Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
William is mentioned in the August 1895 edition of the Barnardo's magazine Ups and Downs by his friend Charles Mott:

Charles Mott says:
"Just a few lines to let you know that I arrived at Stayner all right. I met my master at the Queen's Hotel about two o'clock in the afternoon. I had my dinner at the hotel, then I got my box, then Mr. Dermid drove to home in his cart, when I had the best tea I have had for many years. William Abbot is working not far from me. He came here in March and was my chum at Stepney. That is all I have to say at present."
