A. E. Absolom arrived in Quebec, along with his brother H. Absolom and 433 children. Males were sent to Toronto and Winnipeg and the females to Peterborough. There were nine adults on the end of the list who were traveling with the group.
On July 16, 1919, Albert Edward Absolom married Hazel Adelaide Townson, 19 years of age and daughter of James Townson and Margret Louise Smith, in Haldimand, Ontario, Canada. Albert stated that he was 21 years of age, born in Reading, England; that he was a farmer; that he resided in the Township of Walpole, Haldimand, Ontario; and that he did not know the names of his parents as "at present. I am a Barnardo boy. Brought to Canada when 5 years and will forward when told."
On January 2, 1930, Albert Edward Absolom crossed into the United States through Buffalo, New York. His landing card states he was 32 years of age; that he was a farmer; that he was from Reading, England; that he could read and write English; that he had $50.00; that his last permanent address was Selkirk, Ontario; that he had never been in the United States prior to this date; that his final destination was with his brother-in-law, Harry Cox, 418 Hoyt Street, Buffalo, New York. He stated he intended to remain permanently. He stated his next of kin was his wife Hazel, who resided in Selkirk, Ontario. He is described as 5 foot 5 inches in height; medium complexion, brown hair and brown eyes.
Albert Absolom died in Apr 1967 in Hamburg, Erie, New York.
