A death registration was found for Walter Adderley: Estimated Birth Year: abt 1859; Year of Registration: 1901; Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec; Age at Death: 42; District: South Stoneham; County: Hampshire; Volume: 2c; Page: 56.

In 1902, Edward G. Adderley, 11, arrived at Boston, Massachusetts, USA, in a group of 238 Barnardo children and young persons accompanied by Mr. Owen.

In "Ups and Downs", July-Aug 1902, Mr. Alfred Owens, who accompanied the children on their voyage related:

"Another death [see William H. Hartley] occurred at the harbour in Boston, as they unloading the ship, Edward George Adderley fell into one of the holes of the ship from the dock. The funeral was conducted from the Sailor's Home, and was attended by over 200 of?the ship's company. He is buried in Boston."

[EDITORS NOTE: Edward died at 9:30 p.m. after being taken to the hospital.]

His mother Eliza died aged 99 in Southampton in 1960

His brother Walter Adderley Jnr was killed in WW1 in 1917
