In 1902, Ethel Aggas, 11 (along with sister, Clara Aggas, 10), arrived at Boston, Massachusetts, USA, in a large group of 395 Barnardo children en route to Toronto and Peterborough, Ontario, Canada.

Her father, John William Aggas died on July 18, 1908 in Holbeck, Leeds Yorkshire, England.

On January 31, 1910, at Hamilton, Wentworth, Ontario, Canada, a marriage was registered between Ethel Elizabeth Aggas, 22, born in England to John William Aggas and Ada Anderson; and George Attwood Nickling, 26, iron worker, born to James Nickling and Rebecca Linley. The marriage was witnessed by Agnes Katherine Nickling & John Allan Carmichael

On March 6 1911, Ethel gave birth to a stillborn baby girl at 11 Locamotive St, Hamilton, Wentworth, Ontario, cause of death stated as Stillborn from Obstructed Labor

Ethel Elizabeth Nickling died at the age of 28 on August 15, 1918, at her residence, 50 Peter Street, Hamilton, Wentworth, Ontario, Canada. She died of spinal tuberculosis, duration 3 years. She was buried at Hamilton Cemetery.

George Attwood Nickling remarried Princess Louise Bolton on October 2, 1918, at Hamilton, Wentworth, Ontario, Canada.
