The cause of his death was fracture of base of skull, multiple fractures of jaw, fracture of left clavicle received from an accident where he was hit by a train from Michigan Central Railroad about midnight on August 22, 1931. No auto or other vehicle was involved.

He was buried in Dunnville, Haldimand, Ontario, Canada.
