Parents: Edward Akehurst and Alice Sawyers. Children: Alice, William Richard, Gwendaline (Gwen), Jack Arthur, Thomas Wilfred, & Norman. Edward Akehurst went by numerous aliases and occupations, including a Church of England clergyman.

Alice Akehurst died at the age of 30 in Croydon, England in 1902. After that the children were left to "whatever luck held."

In 1912, Wilfred Akinhurst, 16, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 167 Barnardo boys en route to Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

On February 4, 1916, at London, Ontario, Canada, Wilfred Akehurst, 19, enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces. He declared that he resided in Goderich, Ontario, Canada; that he was born in Surrey, England; that his next of kin was his sister, Marie Akehurst, who resided at Marlebone Hospital, London, England; that his date of birth was October 25, 1896; that he was a florist; and that he was not married. He was described as 5 foot 3-1/2 inches in height; fair complexion; blue eyes; light hair. He was a member of the Church of England.

[EDITORS NOTE: Alice Marie (known as Marie) was born as Alice Marie Kelly. Their father gave many different surnames to the seven known children of the marriage to Alice Sawyer. At some point she returned to her true surname of Akehurst. Alice died at the age of 21 in 1921 at St. Pancras, London, England.]

Wilfred Akehurst was naturalized as a United States citizen on March 1, 1929, at Detroit, Michigan.

Wilfred John Akehurst died in 1952 at Royal Oak, Oakland, Michigan, USA. Olive Dorothy Wallace Akehurst died December 3, 1966, at Royal Oak, Oakland, Michigan, USA.
