A family story has been related many times, by different relatives, how one night Cornelius went out for a loaf of bread and never came back. His wife Sarah had him declared dead, and then married Charlie McCarty, that marriage ended in divorce as a result of her son Clinton.

He declared that he was not married; that he was a laborer; that he was born in Biggleswade, England; that he had no relatives in Canada; that he had last resided in Merritton, Canada; that his final destination was 19 Oliver Street, Tonswanda, New York; he had resided between 1900-1911 in the United States; that he intended to remain permanently in the United States. He was described as 5 foot 6 inches in height; medium complexion; brown hair; blue eyes.
Sometime in the late 1940's, Cornelius reunited with his wife and sons in San Diego, California.
Sarah Grace Fox remarried Cornelius Albone on September 22, 1947, at Chouteau, Montana, USA.
Cornelius, Sarah, Clarence and Clinton Albone were residing at 418 5th Avenue North, Great Falls, Montana, USA, in 1949.
