Parents: Walter James Alway and Florence Hunt, married 1903, East Stonehouse, Devonshire, England.

On September 26 1924, Walter George Alway, 12, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 88 Barnardo children. Upon arrival, he declared that he was born East Stonehouse, Devon; that he intended to take up farm work; that his passage was paid by Dr Barnardo Homes; that his destination was Mr J W Hobday, 538 Jarvis St, Toronto; and that his next of kin was Dr Barnardo Homes, 18/26 Stepney Causeway, London, England.

Barnardo's Ups and Downs, May 1930 Edition, reported that:

"Walter George Alway sends money to father in Eng who is out of work..."
