In 1912, Mildred Ames, 8, arrived at Quebec, Canada, along with a group of 153 Barnardo girls en route to Peterborough, Ontario, Canada.

On November 15, 1922, at Toronto Township, Peel, Ontario, Canada, a marriage was registered between Mildred Doris Ames, 19, born in London, England, to unknown parents; and William Thomas Ellis, 20, farmer, born in Chinguacousy Township, Ontario, Canada, to John Ellis and Esther Hindle.

William Thomas and Mildred Doris Ames Ellis had at least 2 children: Pearl Ellis; and Wilma Jane Ellis (1926 - 1983).

The Toronto Star, Thursday, May 26, 1983, page F08, reported:

"ELLIS, Mildred Doris - After a lengthy illness at Peel Memorial Hospital, Brampton, on Wednesday, May 25, 1983, in her 80th year. Mildred, dearly beloved wife of William of Brampton. Dear mother of Wilma (Mrs. Don Brettell) of Brampton and Pearl Ellis at home. Resting at the Leo Archdekin Funeral Home, 289 Main St N (No 10 Hwy), Brampton after 2 pm on Thursday. Funeral service on Friday, May 27, 1983 at 2pm. Interment Dixon Union Cemetery."
