William John Axworthy died October 7, 1908 at St. PeterPort, Guernsey, Channel Islands.

In 1909, Clifford Axworthy, 11, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 161 Barnardo children en route to Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

On December 15, 1915, at Dunnville, Ontario, Canada, Clifford Axworthy, 18, enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces. He declared that he resided in Dunnville, Haldimand, Ontario, Canada; that he was born at the Island of Guernsey, Channel Islands; that his next of kin was his sister, Lily Axworthy, who resided at Fordwood, Ashford, Middlesex, England; that his date of birth was February 1, 1897; that he was a farmer; and that he was not married. He was described as 5 foot 2 inches in height; fair complexion; grey eyes; fair hair. He was a member of the Baptist or Congregationalist faith.

The Dunnville Chronicle in 1918 reported that Pte Clifford Axworthy, #739,337, could be written to at the Canadian General Hospital, Moore Barracks, Shorncliffe, Kent, England.
