NotesWhen Alfred was in Stepney (Barnardoes in London) since 1895 on the death of his mother and his father went into an asslym. His brother Herbert also sent to Barnardoes but stayed in London and the rest were working so stayed home in Norwich Norfolk England. Alfred weas with the Rev W. J. Mayers with the Dr B's Musical Boys. His 2 younger sisters were sent to Mullers Orphanage in Bristol England

Alfred stayed in Canada till around 1907/1908 not sure if he remained on the farm with Mr Aug Switzer Staffa Ontario or not. He then returned to the UK. After a brief stay he returned to USA where he went to college Jamestown in North Dakota in 1911 where he did an 8 year course completed in 3 years equivalent to Senior High School) then did a four year course Science and Arts course. 1917 signed up for Officers Training. Badly wounded received the Silver Star and Purple Heart for wounds received in action. Discharged in 1922. He then entered Government Foreign Service and completed a four year course at George Town University, he worked in the White House.

By 1943 his health was so bad due to war injuries he had to retire.

1955 he received from Jamestown College A Certificate of Merit Award for the person who had made the outstanding contribution, he was the first to receive this award.

Married to Eleanor Ritzman no children. Sadly he died 1971 and Eleanor Martha Ritzman in 1963.
