In Jan Qtr of 1897 the death of Alexander Beveridge Birrell was registered aged 40 in Windsor, Berkshire

In 1901, Charlotte Bissell, 37, and children Christina, 13, Winifred, 9, Lillie, 7, Walter, 5, Alexandra, 4, in Windsor, Berkshire

On September 13th 1914, Alexander Alfred Birrell born Nov 19th 1893 Windsor, England, enlisted in Canadian Army, he gave his nearest kin as Mrs E Birrell, Bolton Road, Windsor, England, and that he was a farmer

He appears to have had two sisters Mabel born 1888 and Eleanor born 1890 who were residing in Dr Barnardo's Girls Home in Ilford in 1901 and a brother William born 1882

His brother William died of wounds on Oct 1st 1918, he was the son of Charlotte Birrell of 71 Bolton Road and the late Alexander B Birrell

Sadly it appears Alexander was reported as died on 1st January 1919. He was a son of Charlotte Birrell, of 71, Bolton Rd., Windsor, and the late Alexander B. Birrell. It was noted that he had been a Prisoner of War for 3 years and 8 months. He is buried in Windsor Cemetery, Berkshire

Alexander's name appears in: "Faithful Unto Death From Annual Report for Dr Barnardo's Homes 1920.677 old Barnardo boys who gave their lives in the Great War." Son of Alexander B. and Charlotte Birrell, of Windsor. A Prisoner of War for 3 years and 8 months.
