NotesIn 1901, Mabel Book, 6 years of age, was residing with her grandparents at 5 Sussex Street, Portsmouth, Hampshire, England. Other family members included: grandmother Emma L Booker, 53; Fredk Booker, 13, fish fryer for coffee ho.; Thomas H. Booker, 18, fish fryer for coffee ho.; and grandfather Walter Booker, 54, blacksmith / hammerman.

Mabel S. Booker, 11, arrived in Quebec, Canada with a group of 262 children en route to Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

In 1911, Mabel Booker, 17, was shown as a domestic for William Armstrong and family in Markham, York Centre, Ontario, Canada. Her birth month of September only is shown and no immigration date.

On July 1, 1912, George James Whitbread, 21, another Barnardo home child, married Mabel D. Booker, 18. George stated that he resided in Valentyne, Ontario, Canada; that he was a laborer; and that his parents names were Thomas Whitbread and Francis Grove. Mabel stated that she was 18; that she was a laborer; and that her parents names were Joseph Booker and Helen Littlefield.

George and Mabel Whitbread had two children, Harold Whitbread, and Rose May Whitbread (1917-1997).
