In 1901, Arthur Bough, 5 years of age, was an inmate of Dr. Barnardos House, Cobbold Road, Felixstowe, Suffolk, England. (Source: 1901 Census of England; Class: RG13; Piece: 1784; Folio: 44; Page: 4.)

In 1906, Arthur Bough, 10, arrived in Portland, Maine, along with a group of 188 children en route to Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

On July 15, 1916, Arthur Bough enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces. He declared that he was residing in Jordan Station, Ontario, Canada; that he was born in England; that his next of kin was his mother, Emma Bough, who resided at 65 Loder Road, Brighton, England; that he was born January 11, 1896; that his occupation was farming; and that he was not married. He was described as 5 foot 7 inches in height; fair complexion; blue eyes; fair hair. He was a member of the Methodist faith.

On February 26, 1920, in Toronto, York, Ontario, a marriage was registered between Arthur Bough, 25, butcher, born in England, son of George and Emma Amy Bough; and Margaret Ashton, 25, silk winder, born in England, daughter of John Ashton and Annie Oldham.
