Notes What we know about Robert is that he came over with his brother Peter. They boys went to a farm in Fairvalley Ontario where they were able to stay together. Another Home Child, Oive Cheesman was adopted by the Elder family and lived down the street. Olive was 2 years of age when she came to Canada and adopted. She was never told she was a Home Child, therefore she didn't know. At the age of 90 when revisiting Fairvally, she told me what she remembered about the Bower boys. She said that they were not physically abused, but that their treatment on the farm was harsh. They were made to work very long and very hard hours of work on the farm. When old enough, the boys moved to Orillia and remained there the rest of their lives.
